Springfield Solutions unveil £1.3M digital #Printworks expansion

We’ve launched! After months in the planning, #PrintWorks – our £1.3m expansion – has officially been unveiled.

This exciting project means we’ve doubled the size of our digital print operation, taking the overall building footprint from 20,000sqft to more than 26,000sqft, and increased print capacity by 30 per cent.

The move follows three years of significant growth at Springfield Solutions, starting in 2014 when we printed more than 100 million labels in a year for the first time.

By 2015 we increased that to 140 million and 175 million last year, so to cater for continued further growth, the we had no choice but to expand.

The investment includes a new Screen Truepress L350UV ink jet digital press and two new finishing lines from local Bridlington company AB Graphics International, bringing our total operation to five digital presses.

Our joint managing director, Dennis Ebeltoft, said officially launching #PrintWorks was a milestone in our 42-year history.

Springfield Solutions was established in 1975, and has grown from one man, one press, to employing more than 100 people locally. Now we work with some of the world’s biggest and best companies.

Dennis said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be unveiling our new #PrintWorks digital print room, which heralds the next chapter in Springfield Solution’s incredible story.

#PrintWorks is the culmination of many things: a history of innovation across all divisions of the business and special thank you to our sister company Eon Visual Media for their role in that; fantastic loyal staff, many of whom go above and beyond every day, constantly striving for improvement in everything that we do, and all our business partners that have assisted us on our journey. These are the values that have fuelled our growth over recent years, and ultimately led to the opening of our #PrintWorks development.”

The expansion has been made possible by taking over the building adjacent to our existing print room, increasing the production footprint by 100 per cent.

Many years ago, the two buildings had been one, housing a long gone printing company. Together they were known as the “Printing Works”.

Dennis added that the extra capacity would enable us to print millions more labels and improve lead times for print and brand management customers.

“The development will enable us to continue our journey of growth and gain market share,” he said.

“Having more digital presses also means we have more capacity, consistency and continuity allowing us to innovate and push the boundaries of what digital print can do, and that is great news for our clients and the industry as a whole.”
