Starpack Award For Brand Management Team
TWELVE months of concentrated R&D has paid dividends for our brand management team as we have been nominated for a duo of top awards.
We have been shortlisted in the DIY, Gifts and Gardening and Inclusive Design categories of the Starpack Awards for our work with air freshener manufacturer Air Wick.
We were tasked with the brand and project management for the production of Air Wick’s premium, Life Scents aerosol can – an aluminium canister that features an ergonomic design and innovative trigger mechanism.
The challenge came as the can was to be printed using a dry offset process, more normally associated with simple designs such as fizzy drinks cans, rather than the rich, detailed graphics required by Air Wick Life Scents.
Luke Rounding, global account manager, said: “The Life Scents can really had to reflect the quality of the product and normally, to achieve such results, you would use a flexographic or gravure process.
“But we like a challenge, it took 12 months of R&D into new print simulation techniques to predict the printing process and achieve the quality Air Wick wanted with a dry offset process. But by exploring solutions for art-work execution challenges we managed to squeeze as much potential out of the process as possible.
“The results speak for themselves. I don’t think there will be dry offset printed cans anywhere else in Europe of this standard.”
The nomination means we are guaranteed to win either a bronze, silver or gold award in both categories. We find out which one at the ceremony at the National Space Centre in Leicester on September 10th.
Mr Rounding added: “We’re delighted our work on Life Scents has been recognised at what is the industry’s equivalent of the Oscars.
“A lot of hard work has gone into achieving the quality that Air Wick demands so we have our fingers crossed that the judges will be impressed.”
