The 365 Challenge, 365 Miles in 365 Days
2017 isn’t just going to be a year of culture for our home city of Hull, it is going to be a year of fitness and health for local people too.
Yorkshire organisation, the Fitmums and Friends, are launching their 365 Challenge in a bid to help mums, youngsters, and anyone else wanting to take part, have a fitter and healthier 2017.
And we are partnering with them, to help people get the best out of the initiative.
The Fitmums and Friends 365 Challenge encourages people to cover 365 miles across 2017, either by running, walking, cycling or a buggy push.
Those who prefer other forms of exercise, such as swimming or dance classes, can enter by aiming to rack up 365 hours of exercise across the year.
Children taking part are also encouraged to complete 365 hours of physical exercise across the year too, in line with the national physical guidelines for five to 18 year olds.
We are supporting the initiative by creating the activity charts on which participants can record their progress.
The charts feature iconic images from Hull, including the Humber Bridge, KCOM Stadium, and the Deep, as well as the Yorkshire Rose. The images are divided into 365 mosaic tiles, each to be coloured in when one mile or one hour of activity is completed.
Each participant will receive a medal on completing their own 365 Challenge.
Fitmums and Friends is a fantastic, voluntary organisation dedicated to helping local communities become and stay active by providing running and fitness sessions, buggy walks, cycle rides and junior athletic sessions.
We are delighted to be working with them on the 365 Challenge, which is being launched specifically to celebrate the City of Culture year, and will help people of all ages and from all walks of life achieve their fitness potential.
The challenge is open to everyone and entry costs £5. All the money goes back into Fitmums and Friends to enable them to continue their great work in the community.
