Behind The Teams with Amelia Davison

Amelia Davison

In this month’s edition of our ‘Behind the Teams’ series, we spoke to Amelia Davison. Amelia is a member of our Studio team, who is currently a Pre-Press Technician apprentice.

We spoke to Amelia to find out a little more about her role at Springfield and the work she does on a day-to-day basis!

Tell us about your role and what it entails!

I work in the Studio department in the role of Studio Operator / Studio Apprentice. My job role is to amend and create artworks that get sent to me by the Print Customer Service Representatives.

Alongside this job role, I am a part of the apprenticeship scheme with BPIF.

The benefit I get from doing the apprenticeship alongside my role at Springfield is I am learning my job from scratch with no previous experience. I am getting to know all aspects of the business and I will receive a qualification at the end of it!

Walk us through a typical day in your role!

My typical day consists of checking that files are ready for print. These jobs are sent to me by my colleagues Julie Fields, Studio/Projects Manager and Ian Horne, Studio Team Leader.

I get many different types of jobs a day for a variation of our print customers. Sometimes, I have to change existing artworks or create brand-new products.

Can you share any specific challenges or successes you’ve had in your role?

Printed whites on artworks can sometimes be a challenge. This is because sometimes customers don’t always know where they want the white to be.

A success in my job role is working alongside my Mum, Dad, and Auntie. They make my job more enjoyable, and we always work together to get the jobs done.
