Springfield Brings New Blood to the Board

LEADING digital printer Springfield Solutions has appointed Matt Dass to its board to help shape the company’s future strategy.

Earlier this year the firm, based on Thomas Street in Hull, completed the conversion to a digital-only printing format with the installation of a computer controlled laser finishing system. The move brings to an end a two year journey which has seen Springfield invest £1m in new presses, laser and a sophisticated management information system (MIS).

Now, with the addition of Matt, 36, to the board Springfield Solutions is looking to continue its strategy of modernisation. Financial director, Steve Forster, said the move was about securing the long term future of the business. “The members of our board saw the need to interject some new blood into the company,” he said. “We wanted someone who keeps a close eye on the changing media landscape and will be able to navigate the challenges and opportunities they present to the company. “Matt has unanimous support from the board who believe he is the right person to take a leading role in guiding the future direction of the business.”

Springfield Solutions was founded by Albert Dass – Matt’s father – nearly 40 years ago and Matt completed an apprenticeship in reprographics at the company before returning to college to study graphic design. Today he is managing director of media production company Eon Visual Media, which specialises in video, 2D and 3D animation and building apps for corporate clients and sports teams.

Matt said he was excited and honoured at being asked to take a directorship of the business his father had built up over the past four decades. “Becoming a board member of Springfield Solutions is a great opportunity for me to continue something fantastic that was started by my dad,” he said. “It is a very proud achievement on a personal level and professionally offers me a new and exciting set of challenges.”
