Springfield raise dirty money for charity!

A team of athletes from Springfield Solutions braved mud, sweat and tears to raise more than £1,200 for charity.

The team, called ‘I can’t believe it’s not muddier’, raised the money by taking part in Tough Mudder at Belvoir Castle near Grantham last month.

The proceeds are to besplit between Paul for Brain Recovery – a Hull-based charity set up by Paul Spence to support people recovering from a brain injury – and Macmillan Caring Locally.

Tough Mudder is a 10 – 12-mile mud and obstacle course designed to drag contestants out of their comfort zone and by testing their physical strength, stamina and mental grit. The challenge emphasises teamwork, camaraderie, and achievement.

In all, 11 people from Springfield Solutions and sister company Eon Visual Media took part in the gruelling challenge, more than doubling their fundraising target of £500.

Matt Dass, joint managing director of Springfield Solutions, said the event has been fantastic for team building.

He said: “Everyone helped each other, a really strong camaraderie developed within the team. It was more than 10 miles long and very draining but everyone supported everyone, to ensure we started as a team and we finished as a team.”

Matt added that the last obstacle, in which competitors receive electric shocks, proved to be the most difficult.

“We had to run through them,” he said.

“Some were so bad they knocked you off your feet so most of us ended up crawling. The whole event was a gruelling test but at the end, everyone was so pleased they had done it.

“That fact that we smashed our fundraising target makes it all the sweeter. We’re absolutely delighted that so many people got behind us and we’re delighted to be able to donate this money to two very worthy charities.”
