Air Wick Life Scents picks up Global Award

Published:

An innovative aerosol can created in partnership with Springfield Solutions has won its third major industry award.

Air Wick’s Life Scents won a Gold Award in the packaging category of the iF World Design awards – considered to be some of the most prestigious design awards on the planet.

The victory follows two other accolades picked up by the can. In September last year it won a Silver Star award in the DIY, Gifts and Gardening category and the Inclusive Design category at the Starpack Awards.

The can features an ergonomic design and innovative trigger mechanism which enables the user to better control the amount of air freshener they spray at any one time.

Judges at the iF World Design awards applauded the can’s ‘premium in-use experience’ and the functional benefits of the design, and pointed to its great visual design.

The judges said: “The graphics communicate the nature of the scents in an innovative manner: The colour drip down the bottle’s neck makes it stand out on the shelf display. Apart from the bottle’s superb functionality, this packaging design is not only unique and innovative, but also simply beautiful. Great work.

As part of the creative process, Springfield Solutions invested more than a years’ R&D into developing an innovative approach to an existing print process to deliver the results Air Wick required.

The can had to be printed using a dry offset process more normally associated with simple designs such as fizzy drinks cans rather than the rich, detailed graphics of Life Scents.

Luke Rounding, global brand management account manager at Springfield Solutions, said: “The intricate graphics of the can contribute significantly to the premium feel of this product, therefore enhancing the consumer experience. Our work on it ensured those graphics were displayed in a way that aligned with its innovative, ergonomic design.

“It is a project we are very proud to have been involved in and we’re delighted that Life Scents has won its third award.”
