Springfield invest in third inkjet press
DIGITAL printer, global brand management and media specialist Springfield Solutions has invested in a third Truepress Jet L350UV digital label press at leading trade fair drupa.
In 2014, Hull-based Springfield Solutions made history by becoming the first company in Europe to incorporate a Truepress Jet L350UV into its print room. A year later it invested in its second Truepress and just nine months after that, at this months’ German trade fair, has bought a third.
Joint managing director, Dennis Ebeltoft, said Springfield Solutions has seen significant growth in the past three years, largely due to the impact of the Truepress printers.
Mr Ebeltoft, along with fellow joint managing director Matt Dass and print operations manager, Steve Nix, visited drupa, held at Dusseldorf, to seal the deal with Screen Europe, manufacturers of the Truepress.
Mr Ebeltoft said: “We have seen a lot of growth in business from existing and new clients which has put us a year ahead of schedule in terms of investing in a third press. These Screen presses are driving our business growth and attracting new clients and we needed more capacity now to be able to service them and meet tight deadlines – we have been surprised by the success.
“We are seeing run lengths now that we didn’t expect for digital labels and are printing 20,000 linear metres during a single eight-hour shift.”
The latest press is due to be delivered to Springfield’s Thomas Street-based in two months and will be in-line to a Screen JetConverter L350 finishing system which adds varnishing, lamination, die cutting and slitting services, to give full end-to-end production and converting efficiency.
The end-to-end integration goes further at Springfield Solutions, however, with the Screen presses linked into the company’s CERM MIS system to provide accurate job management, production cost analysis and control.
Brian Filler, President of Screen Europe, said: “Springfield Solutions was the first company to install a Truepress Jet L350UV in Europe in 2014 and they have just gone from strength to strength since then.
“It’s refreshing to be associated with such a professional company that is continually investing and growing a successful digital label business.”
