Digital Print Team achieve major milestone

We smashed it!!!!! We set ourselves a huge challenge for yesterday’s International Print Day – to digitally print 100,000 metres of labels in just ONE day!!

We wanted to break our personal best to and show that digital print is capable of hitting the kind of volume normally associated with traditional analogue printing.

We ran two shifts from 6am through to 9.30pm in the evening. Thanks to a lot of preparation and hard work, we hit our target at 5.48pm and went on to digitally print a total of 124, 829 metres of labels.

Our Print Operations Manager Steve Nix said: “We are all over the moon at smashing the target. This was a major challenge for us – going back just two years, we were digitally printing 250,000 metres a month. Yesterday, we printed half of that in a single day. And that shows how far digital printing has come and it also shows how much our operation has grown.”

Joint managing director Dennis Ebeltoft said: “We owe a big thank you to all the team who helped prepare for yesterday and who made yesterday happen.

Digital print already matches traditional print in terms of quality and is certainly more efficient. We wanted to show – on International Print Day – that digital can hit the volumes normally associated with flexo and litho.

Innovation is at the core of everything we do. We continually refine our processes and systems and push the boundaries of what digital print is capable of. We used to digitally print 250,000 metres a month – yesterday we’d reached 100,000 metres before 6pm!

“The only problem we have now is coming up with a way to top this for next year!!”

We posted updates throughout the challenge on our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn channels so feel free to have a look and see how the day unfolded.
